Meet Richard

Meet Richard Cedano, your seasoned surf instructor with over 20 years of experience in Santa Cruz, California, the Canary Islands in Spain, and his native Peru. With Richard’s expert guidance, you’ll learn to read the waves like a pro and ride them with grace and style. But it’s not just about the skills – Richard’s personal touch and love for the ocean and surfing community will leave you with a deeper connection to the sport. Join Richard for an unforgettable surfing adventure and experience the thrill of the ride like never before!

How it all started

This story began not on the coast of Peru, but rather on the sunny shores of California, where Richard spent a decade exploring the best waves in the constant company of his faithful canine friend, Caesar. They returned home and continued their journeys together in a classic 1964 Kombi T1, so when Caesar passed away Richard vowed to keep his memory alive by continuing their journey and teach surfing to people from all over the world. Join him as you ride the waves, explore new horizons, and create new memories in honor of Caesar’s spirit of adventure.

Introduce your child to the joy of surfing with our kids’ tandem surfing lessons! As surfers, we witness firsthand the beauty and power of nature. However, we also see the changes happening – the erosion of beaches along with the destruction and the acidification of the ocean. That’s why Richard, through his environmental blog Surfers for Science, continually fights to preserve the natural world around us, because he understands that the health of the ocean is tied to the health of our sport. Join him in his mission to preserve the ocean’s beauty and power for future generations.

Richard's commitment extends far beyond words on a page. Every visit to the beach doubles as a call to action as he diligently collects litter, leaving behind cleaner shores. His devotion to local marine life knows no bounds, as evidenced by his involvement in animal rescues. Whether it's a stranded sea creature or a distressed seabird, Richard is there, extending a compassionate hand to those in need.

Yet, his impact transcends the shoreline. Richard is a pillar of his community, embodying leadership through action. His altruistic spirit shines brightly as he assumes the role of caregiver to a beloved colony of stray cats. Leaving from Lima, this two day adventure trip includes four surf sessions at Puerto Viejo. We will pick you up from your accommodation, and provide breakfast, wetsuits, boards and knowledge you need for this adventure surf trip. 

Puerto Viejo is one of the few spots in the peruvian coast that have the ideal conditions to camp. We will provide you with all camping equipment necessary to enjoy the experience at the beach.

Leaving from Lima, this private day trip includes two surf sessions at one or two of the best spots in Punta Hermosa. We will pick you up from your accommodation, and provide breakfast, wetsuits, boards and knowledge you need for a fun-packed day on the ocean.

This ten day surf trip includes unlimited coaching at one of the best spots in Peru. It takes us 3 days with two surf stops at Chancay and Barranca to get to the famous world reknown Chicama. We will pick you up from your accommodation, and provide everything you need for riding the longest left in the world! You can also choose the little surf and fishing town of Huanchaco, known for its ancient surf history.
