The surfcamp is located in Krui, a town sitting between the jungle and the ocean. The location is at the end of a quiet road, directly beach front. The town and main street are only a short drive away as well as most of the surf spots.

CAMP CHARACTER

---

The total capacity of the camp is 20 people (including free-surfers and non-surfers). However,  the maximum number of guests for the surf coaching is 6 per retreat. That way we can provide more personal attention and make sure the level of the surfers is matching.  The average age  is 25-45, solo traveller, couples or group of friends. We use English as the common language.

The coaching retreat takes place in the accommodation of Krui Surfing and are run by Damara Surf.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

---

The resort offers a relaxed atmosphere between palm trees and the ocean. The rooms are all private, either double or twin (shared with a friend/partner of yours). Each room has a balcony or terrace,  an ensuite bathroom with hot water, and AC. Ben linen and towels are provided, housekeeping on demand available everyday. Electric sockets are type C (same as in Europe). Wifi is provided throughout the resort via Starlink, as well as a generator in case of powercut. The amenities include 2 swimming pools, a yoga deck, a large dining room with pool table, a TV room, and a room with some gym equipment. Every package includes scooter rental (parking available).

The package offers 3 meals per day: à la carte breakfast and family-style lunch and dinner. There are many local restaurants and shops in town a short drive away, as well as some western options. Really good coffee-shop walking distance.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

The maximum number of participants is 6. We always have one 1 in water-coach and one filming on the beach. We do one or 2 lessons per day depending on conditions with videos on every lesson. We organize groups based on surf level and only focus on specific levels for specific dates. We will communicate with you at the time of booking to make sure your level is matching the other members of the group. Surfing conditions are our priority and we organise the rest of the day around it. Meal times as well as other activities are flexible to make the most out of surfing. The full program includes: 

-1-2 Daily surf lessons with videographer on every lesson

-Media package including high quality HD videos and photos from the trip 

-1 Drone filmed session (included in media package)

-Daily surf-yoga/ mobility training

-Daily video analysis

-Surf-skate, mindset, dry-land workshops and theory classes tailored to you

SURF MATERIALS

We do not provide surfboard rental in the package. The surf shop in town offers rental but the choice is limited. It cost around 15 euros per day for rental. We advise you to take all your surfing equipment with you.

SURF CONDITIONS

---

All the surf spots in the area are reef breaks except for Mandiri Beach. They range from intermediate to expert level. All spots are a few minutes away from the accommodation. Furthest spots in the area are 30 minutes- 1 hour drive. All the spots are paddle-out, no boat ride necessary.   

Seasonal conditions
Water temperature ranges from 27-29°C, board shorts all year long. Air temperature ranges between 27-32°C. Dry season (April to October) offers bigger swells and trade winds, off-shore wind on the majority of the spots during this time. The rainy season brings smaller swells but surf is present all year long.    

Crowd factor and local people
Mostly a low crowd, some occasional busy sessions on smaller spots when a big swell is around and the bigger spots become overpowered.

SURROUNDINGS / REGION

Krui is a decent-size town but is far from any big cities (6h drive To Bandar Lampung and Bengkulu). While you can find all the everyday essentials here, it is better to come prepared. Bring your own toiletries, medicines as well as women’s sanitary products. Medical facilities are present but basic. A travel insurance with medical coverage is mandatory when visiting. We ask you to respect the culture and cover up when not at  the beach, or in the resort. No shirtless and bikinis. Payment by cash in Indonesian Rupiah or card. Reliable ATMs available in town.

Ways to get to the camp

To reach Krui you will have to fly through Jakarta (CGK) with international or domestic flights. From Jakarta you can book one of the many flights to Bandar Lampung (TKG). Make sure you leave enough time to change terminals if you are flying internationally.

Option 1 (recommended): Once you arrive in Bandar Lampung you will have your driver waiting for you at the airport. The drive takes 6-7h (included in package). Make sure to arrange the transfer with us and communicate your flight and arrival time. We will inform you if other participants arrive at the same time to share the ride. 

Option 2: You can fly from Bandar Lampung (TKG) to Krui (TFY) with Susi Air. This aircraft doesn’t allow you to take surfboards (and we recommend to bring your own equipment). However if you don’t have boardbags it is a faster option than the car ride (40 minutes flight). Susi air flies 1-2 times per week to Krui so contact us in advance if you need help with flights schedule

Important details

Visa mandatory when visiting Indonesia. You can get a 30-days visa on arrival (VoA) for 25 euros or a 60-days extendable tourist visa (C1) if you apply in advance from abroad, for around 90 euros.
