Summary
The Algarve isn't just a destination. It's where you remember what your body is for. We handle every detail — from the best beach of the day to breakfast before you paddle out.
The Algarve has some of Europe's most consistent surf outside of summer. No crowds. No queue for waves. Just clean Atlantic swells, a knowledgeable instructor who picks the right beach for your level that morning, and a place to come back to that feels like home. This is not a group tour. It's a small, personal surf trip — built for people who want the ocean without the logistics.
Since 1998, we've been sharing the stoke of surfing on the Algarve coast. Join thousands of surfers from around the world who've learned to ride their first wave with us — right here at one of Portugal's most iconic beaches.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
We are located in the heart of Portimão, right at the iconic Praia da Rocha. This spot is famous for its vast stretch of golden sand backed by stunning red and ochre cliffs. It offers a beautiful landscape where the urban energy of Portimão meets the natural beauty of the Atlantic. The location is central, meaning you have easy access to the beach, restaurants, and the vibrant town center.
Distances
Surf Spot (Praia da Rocha): Walking distance from our surf shop.
Town Centre: Immediate access (Portimão).
Surf Camp (Accommodation): Located at "Portimão Down Town" (Hostel), a short drive from the shop. We provide pick-up service from the hostel to the shop.
Our main spot is Praia da Rocha. It is a classic beach break, offering a long stretch of coast with multiple peaks. This versatility makes it perfect for both beginners learning their first pop-up and intermediate surfers looking to improve their line.CAMP OPERATOR
Who is the owner of the school? The school is owned and operated by Ricardo, a passionate local surfer with decades of experience in the ocean.
Team introduction Our team consists of certified, experienced, and multilingual instructors. We pride ourselves on communication and safety, teaching in Portuguese, English, Italian, Arabic, and French.
Short history Our roots go deep. The project originally started in 1998, driven by a need to provide amazing surf lessons to local kids in Portimão. For over two decades, we have been sharing the stoke of surfing. In 2020, we evolved into Future Eco Surf School, rebranding with a renewed and strong focus on sustainability and environmental awareness, ensuring we protect the ocean that gives us so much.
ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING
ACCOMMODATION TYPES
WHY PTM DOWNTOWN?
We built these packs because we kept seeing the same problem: people arriving in the Algarve wanting to surf, spending half their trip figuring out transport, where to rent gear, which beach to go to and whether they were beginner-friendly. So we fixed it. You step off the train at Portimão station. We pick you up. That morning, your instructor has already checked the forecast and chosen the beach with the right conditions for your level. You surf for 3 hours with equipment included. We bring you back. Breakfast was waiting before you left. The rest of the day? Yours.

SURF CONDITIONS
Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots
Breaks directly at the main spot Praia da Rocha is a sand break. This means the bottom is sandy, making it much safer for beginners than reef breaks. The waves are generally consistent and fun.
Seasonal conditions
Water temperature: Ranges from approx. 15°C in winter to 22°C in late summer. A wetsuit is recommended year-round (3/2mm or 4/3mm depending on the season).
Air temperature: Mild winters (15°C - 20°C) and hot summers (25°C - 30°C+).
Waves: The Algarve creates waves year-round. Summer is smaller and gentler (perfect for learning), while winter brings larger swells for more advanced surfing.
Crowd factor and local people
Crowd: Summer can be busy as it is a popular tourist destination, but the beach is very long, allowing us to find space.
Local habits: The local surf community is strong. As with anywhere in the world, respect the locals and surf etiquette, and the vibe remains friendly and welcoming.
