In Naxoskitelife, the kite team consists of professional kiteboarding instructors who are also dedicated kitesurfers never missing a chance for practicing in their free time. Passionate, skilled and experienced, they love to spread their passion for the sport and train people who are interested to try. Our kitesurf instructors know several languages so they can teach students from all over the world. Teaching kitesurfing is a very demanding and energy consuming procedure. Not everyone can do this job, that is why we choose our kite team with great care. All our kite instructors are certified by KC and IKO or other organisation associated with kiteboarding. They all have good feedback and recommendations from places they worked before.

There is NO accommodation on-site. 
Our kiteboarding center offers a variety of amenities (hot showers, WC, coffee, storage, Wi-Fi etc.). Our kitevan provides on spot assistance for our services on the beach. Naxos Kitelife center and the kitevan on the beach have one target: to get you an unforgetable kite experience.

Meeting point is Naxoskitelife kiteboarding center where you will need to register and prepare for your kitesurf supervision. Please be at the center at least 15 minutes before the start of your session.

Preparation: What you need to bring for your kite session:

Sunscreen, sunglasses & normal beachwear. During a kitesurf session you may need to remove piercing, big watches etc.

Foiling : Join the evolution of kitesurfing!

Hydrofoiling and wingfoiling are new sports evolved from kitesurfing. They give you an unforgettable smooth feeling and can be practiced with less wind and smaller kite (or wing) compared to normal kitesurfing. Mikri Vigla is perfect for progression foilers. In our center we use only FULL CARBON gear from Moses. We offer Kitesurfing foil and wingfoil rentals with supervision. It is time to get up on the foil and slice the waters!

Kitefoil available only for experienced kitesurfers

Naxoskitelife offers private hydrofoil supervised rentals including partial (bringing your own kite) or full equipment. Participating in hydrofoil courses requires prior excellent kite control and balance with the kiteboard. Kitefoiling is not for beginners but for a confident kitesurfers! Wingfoiling on the other hand is a new sport offered to all enthusiasts.

Previous experience with a directional board is a plus. We supervise using radios and hand signals. Your progression starts from the first foil drag up to your first tacks. This sport needs some practice time, but with a strong kitesurfing background it comes quite fast. We focus on your safety and pleasure. It’s best to do no more than 2 hours in a row, as fatigue slows down the progress later on. We can guide you in English, German and French. In the end of your rental you may get a registered KC Progression/Member Card. That shows your progression and gives you the chance to continue your course or rent equipment later on.

Kite Spot Mikri Vigla
Mikri Vigla kite beach is one of the best for kitesurfing in all Cyclades with safe and steady conditions and more than 200 windy days per year. The safety of the bay, the dominant North winds and the unbelievable beauty of the scenery are the main reasons why it became so popular. This is the best place to kite in Naxos no doubt.

Besides the sandy long beach and crystal clear water, the direction of the wind and the form of the bay are the answers you seek. Simply, this bay works perfectly and safely with the dominant North winds of the season.  The Meltemi that  blow from June to September will bring wind almost every day, all day. The Venturi effect and the thermal winds give this place 5-10 knots more wind compared to other beaches in Naxos and the surrounding islands. Most people staying in the town notice the difference when they arrive to Mikri Vigla. The direction of the dominant winds is side-onshore which makes it absolutely safe for kitesurfing supervision and affects your kite progression positively no matter what your kiteboarding level is. Staying in this safe bay of Mikri Vigla means that  you will hardly ever need a rescue – you will be pushed to the beach in minutes by the wind. Mikri Vigla is the safest kite spot for kiteboarding activities in Naxos however don’t expect to ride your kite alone unless you go early in the morning or late in the evening.

Kiteboarding is fully depending on Weather conditions. Especially for students and their kite supervision, the smoother the weather condition, the better. Even with the today’s technology the forecasts cannot be fully trusted. Most commonly used sites for weather forecast are Windguru and Meteo, but keep in mind, that even if the forecast looks unpromising the magic of Mikri Vigla might make it work! Most important is the wind direction. North and Northwest work the best for kitesurfing in Mikri Vigla kitebeach. So stay tuned and check weather conditions frequently!

JOURNEY

Reaching Mikri Vigla Kite Beach:

Our Kite Center’s entrance is on the main street exactly across the street from Stelios tavern.  During the summer season there are also buses every 30 minutes from the town.

There are two roads for reaching the kitebeach of Mikri Vigla from Chora (Naxos Town):

- The recently constructed asphalt road going towards Plaka, later turning into a dirt road (11 km).

- The asphalt road through Galanado, Glinado and Vivlos, passing close to Kastraki (17 km). 

In addition, there are buses coming from Chora during the main season.

The nearest beaches are Orkos and Plaka to the north, and Kastraki and Aliko to the south.

We are open daily from April until November 10:00-18:00. During the high season (July, August, September) we are open 9:00-19:00 on windy days. During the winter months we open upon request.

RENTAL

Prerequisites for renting equipment

For renting equipment you have to have at least level C6 – turning and keeping the upwind (see more about levels) and be experienced in choppy and gusty wind conditions. You need to agree with our rental terms. In the beginning of your first session you will need to pass a kiteboarding rental check, where you have to demonstrate your ability to ride upwind, bodydrag upwind and safely navigate between other kiters. The rental check takes about 10 minutes and is counted in your rental time, but otherwise free. The customer must pay for the kiteboarding rental session beforehand, but if the check is failed the money will be returned except for 20€ that we keep for the check. Those who need to improve to meet the requirements of the rental check can always get some kitesurfing rental supervision from our team by contacting us. Being an excellent swimmer is a must in Mikri Vigla as the water is deep.
