ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Wave House Surf Camp is located in Berawa, one of the most popular spots in Canggu. It’s surrounded by rice terraces, near the beach and full of shops, cafes and bars. The nearest beach and surf spot Berawa is located within 6 min walking distance, and there are also multiple surfing spots nearby, mostly for pre-intermediate, intermediate and experienced surfers. The spots for beginners are situated in Kuta within 45 min drive. 

The camp is for adults over 18 y.o. only. The average age of guests is 20-35 y.o., there are many solo travellers. The atmosphere is relaxed, because the main purpose of visitors is surfing. There are no parties inside the camp, but there are a lot of bars and clubs within 5-15 min drive from camp, so there are always options and company for those who want to go out.

Wave House was created in 2011 by a guy who fall in love with Bali and surfing and wanted to create a place where people could get together to share their experience, impressions and knowledges and to make new friends.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Wave House is a big villa consisting of 3 buildings with 2 pools. There are 12 rooms totally of 4 different room types.

1) Camp room - a dorm room with 2 bunk beds for 4 people. There are 2 dorms in the
    camp: the mix one and dorm only for girls.

2) Standard room - a 20 m2 private room for 1 or 2 people. It can be set with 1 king size
    bed or 2 single beds upon request. There are 3 Standards in the camp.

3) Deluxe room - a big 35 m2 private room for 1, 2 or 3 people. It can be set with 1 king
    size bed, 2 single beds or 3 single beds upon request. There are 5 Deluxe rooms in the
    camp.

4) Studio room - a two-storey 40 m2 private room for 1 or 2 people, can be set with 1 king
    size bed or 2 single beds upon request. There are 2 Studios in the camp.

Every room has ensuite bathroom with hot shower, AC, fridge, safety box and free WiFi. The private rooms have Minibar as well. Studio room has also satellite TV.

There is a cafe on the territory of the camp, it's open from 7 am until 10 pm. Breakfasts are included into the package's price, the lunches and dinners are to be charged with extra price. The menu is regular with some options for non-strict vegetarians.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

The lessons for all levels students are already included into the package 6 days per week (Saturday is day off). Surf training consists of theoretical part, practice in the ocean for 2 hours per session, photo reviews (for lineup stage only) and also practice in the pool 1 time a week. There are 7 students maximum for 2 instructors in the group.

Surf boards, rashguards and board shorts are provided. There are soft/hard top boards longboards, minimalibu and funboards. The board rental is included only for the lesson time and is to be charged additionally if student wants to surf independently.

Wave House provides also yoga lessons, excursions, full day and half day tours, night trekkings to volcano, snorkeling, diving, rafting and other kind of activities. Possible to organize everything you want! 

There is also a beach day - trip to some beautiful beaches in the south of the island to swim and to relax, which is free for all the camp residents (once a week).

There are mostly beach breaks, but there are also reef breaks nearby. Lessons for beginners are run only on beach breaks.

Seasonal conditions

There are waves all year round in Bali. The spots for beginners work well 365 days a year, as for the upper level surfers it’s more seasonable: the dry season (April – October) is supposed to have the best waves on the west coast of Bali and the rainy one (November – March) is always presented to have better conditions on the east coast. This rule doesn’t work really strictly and rainy season can often bring good waves to the west coast as well. If no, we go to the east spots such as Nusa Dua and Serangan which are within about 1 hour drive from the camp.

On rainy season the water temperature is about 29C, on the dry season it's about 24-25C. The weather is always +28 +30 in Bali.

Crowd factor and local people

Bali is very famous in the surf world that's why there are almost no empty or secret spots remaining. The locals are not agressive, especially on spots we surf.

Characterization of surroundings/region

Bali is an island in the largest island country Indonesia. Although it's a muslim country, Bali is hindu island with its unique religion and culture. There are just a few big cities on it and they are not touristic. The main touristic and surfers areas are situated on the south coast of the island. It's famous for its surf spots giving amazing waves all year round. There are many sightseeing (temples, waterfalls, volcanos and rice paddles) all over the island that are possible to reach within 1-3 hours drive from the south. The currency is Indonesian Rupiah. It's not possible to withdraw any other currency in banks and ATMs, other currencies are not accepted anywhere neither. The medicine is rather expensive, so the health insurance is necessary to be done before coming to Bali.

Ways to get to the camp

Usually tourists come to Bali by plane. There is only 1 airport in Bali and it's within 45 min drive from the camp. Airport transfer is free for all the guests who booked the camp for 7 nights or more.

For citizens of majority of countries in Europe and America visa is not required.
