Just a few minutes away by car, you'll find beaches far away from the tourist crowds. Thanks to the many different surf spots, Porto offers you a very good opportunity to start surfing as well as to improve your skills. Among the surf schools that dot the beaches, there's sure to be one that perfectly matches your expectations. So grab your board and let's go!

3. The best time to travel

In Porto you can roughly say:

5. Water temperature

The water temperature in Porto averages around 20 degrees from August to October. This means that you will be more comfortable if you go surfing with a good quality, but rather thinner wetsuit (3/2mm). In the months of December to May, the water temperature can quickly drop to around 13 degrees, which makes surfing without a wetsuit impossible. So that the temperature doesn't spoil your fun, we recommend that you go surfing with a thick wetsuit (4/3mm) and booties.

6. Transport

Another convincing argument for a surf holiday in Porto are the cheap flight connections. You can fly to Porto from several European airports with Ryanair. If you want to take your own surfboard with you, you pay an additional 50 euros per board bag and route with Ryanair if you book in time on the internet or 60 euros directly at the check-in at the airport. However, if you're thinking about travelling by car, the excellent network of new motorways makes it easy to get around Portugal. You can also travel stress-free by train, boat and bus. However, most camps also offer airport transport, making your journey easy and convenient.

7. Price range

The price range for surf camps in and around Porto is between 165€ - 499€ per week. So even with little money you can spend an unforgettable week that will take your surfing skills to a new level. Are you unsure about the prices? Feel free to contact us!
