The waves
Destroyer: Shallow, fast and hollow left hander which offer barrel sections, experienced surfers only.
La Izquierda: Long left-hander, perfect for radical manoeuvers. For confident and experienced surfers only.
The Main Peak - The right: Really consistent. Long mellow right with many take off spots. Suitable for confident and experienced surfers.
Bobo’s Point: The inside, beginners area, is a soft, easy wave for beginners and apprentice surfers. The main peak can be faster and more challenging, attracting more confident surfers.
Coco Pipe: Fast and shallow mix of left and right-hand waves, suitable for experienced surfers only.

Wave seasons

November to April
The north swells bring beautiful surfing conditions to Encuentro. Long periods of swell as well as mild winds makes it the best period to come surfing.

May to August
Offer weaker and smaller conditions due to the wind swells coming from the east. They can be a good option to start catching small green waves for an apprentice surfer.

September & October
Are special months of the year in Encuentro. The crowd and vibe are chill, while hurricane swells bring amazing waves from time to time, making it a perfect moment of the year to surf and relax.

Parallel Surf, a surf school in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, is the perfect place for anyone eager to learn how to surf or take their skills to the next level. Playa Encuentro, known for its consistent waves and stunning scenery, attracts surfers from al ove the world.

At Parallel Surf, we offer surf lessons tailored to your needs, using video analysis to accelerate you progress and refine your technique. Our ISA-certified instructors teach you technical skills, ocean awareness and surfing knowledge in order to ride waves. Our holistic approach also includes surfskate, mobility flow, yoga, and even ice baths for recovery.

Boutique Hotel
El Encuentro Surf Lodge, just next door to Parallel Surf, is a unique boutique concept offering double rooms, superior studios, beach bungalows and vacation villas.

All located in front, or in walking distance of Playa Encuentro between Cabarete and Sosua on the marvelous north coast of the Dominican Republic.

El Encuentro Surf Lodge guests receive a 10% discount on all coaching services, free access to our Surf Fitness and Yoga for surfers classes, discount on Open Bowl Session and Ice Bath.

Double Room
Our Double Rooms are located in the lower garden of the main hotel and offer garden view which you can enjoy from your private terrace. The room can be set up with two twin size beds or one king-size bed and can accommodate up to 2 guests.

Superior Studio
Our spacious Superior Studios are located in the upper garden and feature a modern design, fully equipped kitchen and living area. Garden view. Each Superior Studio accommodates up to 4 guests.

Beach Bungalow
Located in front of the beach and nestled in a beautiful garden you willl find our Beach Bungalows. Enjoy the pool view from your private terrace and get creative in your fully equipped kitchen. Each Bungalow accommodates up to 4 guests.

Superior Beach Bungalow
This superb bungalow offers an amazing ocean view both from the spacious terrace and the living area. The Superior Beach Bungalow accommodates up to 6 guests in 3 Masterbedrooms.

Ocean Front Villa
You want to stay at your own private villa just in front of the surfbreaks and the endless beach? Up to 16 guests can be accommodated comfortably at our Oceanfront Villa comprising of our two Beach Bungalows and our Superior Beach Bungalow. Private pool.

Oceanview Treehouse
For the ultimate experience book your stay in our Oceanview Treehouse, probably the only one in the Dominican Republic. Nestled under a giant beach almond tree you will enjoy an incredible view of the ocean and check the surf conditions right from your comfortable queen size bed. OTHER ACTIVITIES

Surfskating is a fantastic way to improve your surfing skills on land. With our surfskate coaching you create muscle memory that will translate in the water. It's an effective practice to refine your surfing technique and flow better on your surfboard.

Level 1: Learn the fundamentals of balance, basic movements and board control on the flat.
Level 2: Learn how to generate your own speed and start using the bowl.
Level 3: Learn how to perform a quality bottom turn and different complex maneuvers.

Movement
Surf Fitness and yoga classes are the perfect complement to your surf training routine. Our Surf Fitnessboosts coordination and strength, whilst our yoga session supports flexibility breath control, and mental focus.

Surf Fitness
Surf Fitness is perfect for anyone who wants to increase strength whilst improving range of motion. Come and join every Monday and Wednsday at 5pm. The class includes an Ice Bath.

Yoga
Yoga combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to enhance flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. It promotes inner peace and well-being, fostering a deep connection between body and mind. Come and join every Friday at 5pm.

Activities and facilities

Cuevas del Callejón
At the end of the busy Callejón de la Loma, lies the entrance to Cabarete’s magical caves. The tour includes 3 caves: the first one you climb down 25 meters and take a refreshing bath in the crystal clear sweet water with your flashlight as the only illumination. In the second cave you’re going to see ancient stalagmite and stalactite. And in the third one you can jump down 5 meters, into the pool of the cave.

Horseback riding on the beach
Nothing like enjoying paradise while on a horse back. See beautiful sights with a guided tour on nature’s trails. Your guides Carlos and José will pick you up from the hotel with the horses. Small kids can ride with their parent on one horse. Don’t forget to wear long pants and closed shoes!

Diving & Snorkeling in Sosúa Bay
Under the sea! Hold your breath and take pleasure in the wonders of underwater worlds, marine life and the reef. Divecenter Merlin Sosua is the premiere scuba diving & snorkeling facility on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. They offer more than 20 dive sites within 5 - 15 minutes and friendly professional PADI certified staff. This team will ensure you’re diving safely and enjoying the amazing underwater world.

Canyoning
It’s adventure o’ clock somewhere! Here we’re talking about jungle, waterfalls, hikes and cliff jumps! A great idea for anyone looking to get away from it all. You cannot help but feel the magic as you rappel off a mushroom shaped waterfall into a cool, blue pool bellow. Located in Rio Blanco - deep down in the canyon, don't miss out on an amazing tour. La Boca River
Located in Islabon, participants get to experience the mangroves, an organic farm, some botanical gardens, a pool, jacuzzi and great local cuisine. There’s also boat rides and stand up paddling from the river down to the ocean. Make a reservation before popping in! PS: Closed on Mondays.

Kite Surfing
Touted as one of the top 10-kiteboarding destinations in the world, it’s no wonder beginners, pros and everyone in between flock from all corners of the globe to Cabarete. With consistent and warm winds 330 days a year, a variety of kiting conditions, and turquoise water Cabarete is the perfect spot for kitesurfers and the IKO certified coaches at Parallel Surf will take you to uncrowded kite spots close by.
