LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Peniche is a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean approx. 1 hour north of Lisbon. The peninsula offers many surf spots where you can discover a variety of waves and breaks – from mellow to hollow, small to big and slow to fast breaking waves, beach breaks and reef breaks.
Along the coastline you can find long beaches and stunning cliffs shining in different colours.
In the town centre of Peniche you will find everything necessary for the daily life: restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, banks, surf shops, etc.

CAMP CHARACTER

---

Our small surf camp has a chilled out atmosphere and good vibes for young people 18+. You can relax and hang out, surf the whole day, go to the beach, join the BBQ’s and go out to the beach bars at night.
The main language used is English as we are an international surf camp. At the surf lessons we can communicate in English, Portuguese, Spanish and a little bit French.

CAMP OPERATOR

Haliotis Surf Adventures has been created in 2014. Our surf manager and head coach is João Lourenço who has a lot of surf experience and went on surf trips around the world. But his favourite place to surf is still Peniche and especially getting barreled at Supertubos. Having already some years of experience working as a certified surf instructor João wants to share his knowledge and the same happiness and passion he has for this sport during his lessons with our great team.

Our self-catering surf hostel is located in Peniche very close to Bocaxica beach and Molhe Leste. It has a big rooftop with 360° view over Peniche and its coastlines.
Room types:

Main facilities:

Transfers from your accommodation to our school and the surf spots of Peniche are provided daily for the surf lessons so that your only concern is enjoying your holidays to the fullest.

Our surf hostel has a fully equipped kitchen that is free for you to use at any time.
Supermarkets are in walking distance and restaurants are nearby. The price level is cheap to normal.

Note: Lunch packs are included on full day surf lessons and are available optional on half day surf lessons for 5,00 € / person.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

We offer half day or full day surf experiences. Every lesson takes about 2 hrs. and includes qualified teaching, surf board and wetsuit, transfers, hot showers and insurance. On full day experiences you will get a lunch pack between the lessons.
Meeting for the morning lesson is normally around 9 am at your accommodation. We will drive to our school and get the right surf equipment for you before going to the best surf spot of the day. You will be back around 12.30 pm. For the afternoon lesson we meet around 2 pm and you will be back around 5.30 pm.
We will organise small groups depending on your surf level with a max. instructor-student ratio of 1:6 for the best learning success. You will have the chance to improve on your individual surf level by getting all necessary advices from your surf instructor.
We can communicate in English, Portuguese, Spanish and a little bit of French.

From autumn until spring we also offer surf guiding and surfaris where you will discover new and uncrowded surf spots. It's the perfect time of the year for intermediates and advanced to catch some great waves.

Another particular characteristic to us is the exclusive offer of combo packages of surfing and diving in Peniche and at the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Berlengas archipelago.

Wetsuits:
We provide different sizes of Rip Curl wetsuits at our school that will keep you warm in the water.

On full day surf experiences you can keep the equipment for the whole day and use it outside of the course hours if you want to.
We also offer half and full day rentals for boards and wetsuits.

Ways to get to the camp

By plane
The closest airport to our surf camp is Lisbon (LIS). It’s approx. 95km away from Haliotis Surf Adventures. We do offer airport transfer between Lisbon and Peniche for 80€ with return. If there are more than 4 persons we can do a better price on request. It’s possible to take your surfboard as well. Otherwise you can rent a car or take the bus (see below).
Another airport is Porto (OPO) which is about 270km away from Haliotis Surf Adventures.
From here you could also take a rental car or take the bus (see below).

By bus
Coming from Lisbon you have two options to take the bus.
Rede-Expressos depart from Lisbon's Sete Rios bus terminal to Peniche several times every day. For more information take a look at www.rede-expressos.pt .
Alternatively you can take the 'Rapida Azul' of the Rodotejo bus company but only on weekdays. It leaves from Lisbon's Campo Grande bus terminal. For more information take a look at www.rodotejo.pt .
Coming from Porto there is one direct journey per day with Rede-Expressos (www.rede-expressos.pt).

By car
Whether you're driving from north or south, take exit 14 out of highway A8 and merge into the IP6 road to Peniche. At the roundabout where you can choose between going to the campsite (municipal), to Peniche centre or to Supertubos beach, you need to take the fourth exit in direction Consolação. Our dive and surf school is located directly on the left-hand side after taking the exit.

The trip
Every day we will pick you up with our van and go discover a new surf spot. You can choose between spending the whole day in the water surfing or to do a half day surf and explore the town and surrounding.
Our surf guide will take you to following places:
>> Ericeira, known as the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe
>> Santa Cruz, a rare natural beauty with its golden sandy beaches and great cliffs
>> Peniche, the peninsula has various surf spots to offer. The world’s best surfers come here every year to compete in the championship tour of the World Surfing League.
>> Nazaré, well-known for its big wave riding spot at Praia do Norte in front of the famous lighthouse
