Praia da Areia Branca is located 65km distance from Lisbon. Near the best portuguese surf spots , Praia da Areia Branca is the perfect place for surfers, nature lovers, families, friends and couples. It has something magical that is difficult to describe by words. You can easily fall in love for this small paradise.

Praia da Areia Branca, in Portugal, is small seashore village that has not yet been massively occupied by tourism and in where you can have contact with the local population in a calm and safe environment. At Praia da Areia Branca, you have at your disposal several restaurants, bars, and cafe's for different tastes, a minigolf course, a futsal field, and tennis courts.

With beautiful beaches all along the coast, we can say that the beaches nearby have a mystic aura: filled with a great amount of biodiversity and geodiversity, all of them have hidden treasures to be founded.  The biggest of all is, with no doubts, the perfect sunset that happens over and over again, once per day, and each of them so differently. You can walk everywhere!

EUROPE'S GOLD SURFING COAST

- We are located in the best surf coast of Europe, which stretches from Peniche to Ericeira, in the center of Portugal.

HOW TO GET HERE

It's easy to get to this small paradise. If you're coming from Lisbon Airport (the closest one), the cheapest option to reach us is by bus. In this case you need to take the metro, or a taxi to the Rodoviária bus station, in Sete Rios (Metro Station), near the Lisbon Zoo. 

There, you look for the Express Bus to Peniche (schedule), and buy ticket to Praia Da Areia Branca (9€). The journey takes about 50 minutes

Other option is to take a taxi from the Lisbon Airport directly to Praia da Areia Branca. It should cost around 70€.

Small and cosy one bedroom apartment, perfect for 2 persons. It offers:

Beach Farm Apartments (private apartment for 2 persons with swimming pool)

Located just 12 minutes  walk close to the beach and surf school, but in the country side, this small farm presents guests with:

- cozy and fully equiped apartments, perfect for 2 persons with a double (big) bed.

- salt water swimming pool and a great garden to chill

- place for bbq and lounge area with internet access (wifi)

- bikes to explore the region.

Beach Break Private House (private house  up to 8 persons)

Apartment Solinho e Estrelinha (private apartment for 4/6 persons)

The apartments are great. They are located 5 minutes walking distance close to the beach and surf school, on a very quiet and relaxed area from Areia Branca beach village, with a garden, court tenis and children play ground.  They are big and spacious, with 3 bedrooms (one couple bed and 4 single beds) and fully equiped kitchen.  Recommended for couples; friends, families.


Apartment Perfect10 (private apartment up to 8 persons)

Perfect 10 is a Duplex apartment located just a short walk from the school and the beach. On first floor, you find full equipped kitchen, living and dining area with balcony with sea view. One double room and one twin room. On top floor, other twin room and two individual rooms. Sleeps up to 8 persons.

 

Beach Bungalows (25 meters close to the beach; private houses for 4/8 persons)

Suitable for couples, families or groups of friends, each house has 2 bedrooms (each room with its own ensuite bathroom), fully equipped kitchen and lounge area.

One of the houses accommodates up to 8 people (2 rooms with bunk beds) and the other sleeps up to 6 people (1 room with 2 beds and 1 room with bunk beds).

The 2 bungalows share a communal outside area where you can chill out, have breakfast, meet other surfers...

You can book just 1 bed, 1 room or the entire bungalow!

The bungalow offer the perfect scenario for a relaxing holiday by the beach without compromising comfort and privacy!

Silver Coast Residence

Silver Coast Residence is a private condominium of just 15 three and four bedroom homes around a large condominium pool. Only 5 minutes walk from the beach and close to the historic town of Lourinhã, these homes are elegantly furnished, well equipped and suitable for individual families or several families.  Units next to each other can be requested for larger parties.  The heated pool (from mid June to mid September) and separate baby pool make it ideal for all to have fun in the sun. Use as a base to discover the “real Portugal” with miles of sandy beaches, world class golf courses, championship surfing, sumptuous sea-food and local wine...or just relax by the pool and rediscover simple pleasures.

As the condominium is private and has only 15 villas, the large pool area never feels crowded. With plenty of sun-loungers it is a great social place, kids to meet or to just relax in the sun.   Each property also has its own sun loungers if you are looking for privacy and outside dining table / chairs and BBQ to enjoy alfresco dining.

Just over the dune lies the beach café – prefect for light lunches whilst you relax in the sun and the kids play in sand.  They have secure area for younger kids to play and there is a surf school on site.   The beach café does fabulous light lunches or you can book an evening meal.

The tennis courts are a 5 minute drive where Pedro – the pro - gives lessons to all ages. Book early as it does get busy in the summer!  

There is a condominium room on site so if you have any requests, from booking a romantic meal for that special occasion to visiting the local winery, Peter – our condominium manager -  is on site to assist. 

There is plenty of parking in front of the properties on this private road.  With just a 4 minutes drive to three supermarkets in the town of Lourinha and with its shopping area, daily market, bar, restaurants and the dinosaur museum, this is a great base for a relaxing or activity filled holiday.

Villa A is a spacious three bedroom villa designed to capture the best of the magnificent ocean views and sunshine.  It has a large living/dining area with patio doors leading out to a private terrace – perfect for breakfast or watching the golden sunsets over the ocean. The terrace has a lockable gate should you have little ones so they can play in complete safety.  The kitchen is fully equipped including washing machine and dishwasher to make the holiday more relaxing.  On the first floor there are three bedrooms: a large master bedroom with sea-view balcony and en-suite bathroom.  The other two bedrooms have 2 single beds each.  There is a further full bathroom on this level.   All bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes.   Villa A also has a side garden – perfect for the older children to play – which also leads to the condominium pool.

Villa H, I, J are three bedroom villas facing the pool area.  Each has a living/dining area with patio doors opening to a small garden. The gardens have a lockable gate so kids are safe to play without access to the pool. The kitchen is fully equipped including washing machine and dishwasher to make the holiday more relaxing.  There is a patio from the kitchen – perfect for morning breakfast. On the first floor there are three bedrooms: a large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom.  The other two bedrooms have 2 single beds each.  All bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes.   There is a further full bathroom on this level.    As the villas are next to each other, they can be booked by families holidaying together.

Beautiful contemporary design house in a private condominium fitted to a very high standard. 

House G has a Jacuzzi located on the terrace.  Heating cost included in price.

Guests also have the use of a large heated pool (between mid June and mid September) in the condominium next door. 

Set in the rural countryside of Lourinha with the beach just a short walk, this is the perfect base for a relaxing or activity filled holiday.

On the top level the house comprises of a fully equipped modern designer kitchen, bright open plan sitting / dining room with large picture windows opening to a large terrace with fantastic views of the sea to soak up the sunshine. A staircase leads down to the master double bedroom with en suite bathroom plus two further bedrooms with two single beds in each, plus their own terrace with sea views, and a full bathroom.  On the lower floor the house has it's own private garage.

House G and F are adjoining and can be rented together for a larger family or group holiday for upto 12 persons.

HOW IT WORKS

The Surf courses are given normally from Monday to Friday. You will surf twice a day, and each surf session last approximately 2h. So, if you spend your days behind the desk, don't forget to practice some sports before your surfing holidays.

The surf spot and class schedule choice, is made according with the surf instructor's experience, considering safety, sea and weather conditions, participants skills (and sure, variety), splitting groups, whenever it seems convenient, and sending them to different spots that best match the skills of the corresponding group. 

Depending on the conditions and on the level of the students, the lessons can take place at different surf spots within a range of 20 km from the surf school (15 minutes by car). In this case you will be away for the lesson for a total of 5/6 hours.

It all starts ot our surf school base, 2 minutes walking from the beach. There you find a dressing and chill out area, with shower. 

At our surf lessons, we have a ratio of one surf instructor and one surf assistant for a group of 8 participants.

The regular Schedule works like this:

- 09.50 – Meeting point et RIPAR Surf Camp

- 10.00 – Departure to the beach

- 10.15 – Lesson starts

- 12.15 – Lunch time!

- 13.00 – On the water.

- 15.00 – Return to the Surf Camp

 

This is an example of the most normal schedule. But often occurs schedules changes due to tides and ocean conditions. We may start earlier (around 8h am) or finish at the sunset.

DIFFERENT LEVELS

If you have done some surfing before, but are not sure which is the right course level for you, just book a beginner’s course and on the first day we will evaluate your surfing.

To join our ADVANCED surfing level, you need to feel confortable on the water, know the priority rules, be able to catch unbroken waves on your own and turn. To offer good quality, the advanced group only holds 5/6 participants IN TOTAL!

- Choose the best schedules and surf spots in order to practice advanced techniques with less crowd    on the water

- Ability to catch and ride unbroken waves

- Practice the classic surfing line: trimming, bottom turn, top turn

SHIATSU MASSAGE

GET EVEN MORE CONNECTED! We offer a special massage therapy which helps alleviate physical exhaustion, tensions and other minor conditions that our surf students may experience after an intensive surf session.

 

The objective of the therapy is to restore the flexibility of the joints by loosening minor muscle contractions and correcting mechanical imbalances caused by the unusual exercise.

 

The Shiatsu Massage is based on the principles of Chinese Traditional Medicine. It consists of applying pressure to the accupoints, in which the therapist uses fingers, palms, feet and his/ her own weight, without using any oils or creams.

 

The most important benefits are a stimulation of the self-regulatory system of the organism, deep relaxation of body and mind and the release of energetic tensions and blockages. It will also support the natural and free flow of the vital energy (Qi) and the contact with the body and inner self.

Since 2003 that Ripar brings Yoga to the surfing community in Areia Branca.

The the ancient knowledge of Yoga, and its benefits on surfing, are now subject of great interest and plenty of top surfers nowadays include surfing in their training routines.

It is a well known now, that Yoga is a great surfing enhancer as you work strength, balance, flexibility and focus during Yoga practices and that affects directly your efficiency in the water, your recovery time in between surf sessions, the likely to have lesions and your connection to Nature.

 

In Ripar, our certified yoga teacher practices and teaches Yoga Sámkhya, which is a traditional form of Yoga that goes way before the original Yoga codification by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras, in a time when there existed only One Yoga and Yoga (which means ‘to join’) and Sámkhya (‘number’ or ‘reason’) where the same.  Through the work of the 14 technical disciplines (Dhyána/Samadhi, Ásana, Pránayama, Kryá, Pujá, Nyása, Mantra/Kírtana, Mánasika, Jápa Tala, Jápa Shesha, Mudrá, Yantra, Bandha, Yoganidrá) we aim to develop, in harmony, all your positive aspects for a more natural, wholesome existence and an even more joyful surfing experience.

 

As a surfer and a medical doctor (GP trainee), our Yoga instructor tailors the practice to meet the needs of your body, with great care for the anatomy of both surfing and Yoga, the food we eat, the time of the day we practice, our personal goals and the relation to the beautiful surrounding Nature of Areia Branca.

 

The practices* can be held in the beach, in the lovely (and flower smelling) deck of our surf school or in an amazing 13th century fortress over the sea, according to weather cast and personal/group preferences.

*Each practice finishes with a moment for sharing experiences and thoughts (or silence) drinking locally grown organic tea.

Does Praia da Areia Branca has all the facilities for a quality surfing holiday?

Yes, it’s a small beach village but it has everything you may need. Supermarkets, local market with fresh fish and fruits, restaurants, bars, snack-bars, ATM machines, and places to chill in a very close range. And you can walk everywhere! 

And in case of a health problem, the hospital and pharmacies are located just 3km away, in Lourinhã, the main village of the district. We can take you there any time.
