ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

The surf school is located close to the beach and has exemplary surfing conditions for every level of ability all year round

Our team is made up of CPR certified, knowledgeable watermen/women who strive to provide our clients with the most authentic surfing experience that can be offered. With decades of combined experience in surfing at a high level, the Brownell family would like to invite you to experience surfing in its purest and most professional form. From competitive surfing to videography to experience in the service and tourism industries, our team at School of Stoke is more than qualified to provide you with the ultimate surf vacation experience.

With a decade of surfing experience and several years in the service industry, the founders of School Of Stoke have a well-rounded set of attributes. They use their experience to keep the program organized, scheduled and legitimate while providing their clients with a great time in and out of the water. Our athlete Rubiana is a 5-time Costa Rican National Champion, a highly talented and knowledgeable young water woman who loves to share the stoke with the little ones! 40 years of surfing experience, 20 years of coaching experience, 2x member of the US National Team. Trey can break surfing down to a science and analyze specific aspects our students want to improve and steer them in the right direction with a focused and practical approach.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

For beginners:
If you've never surfed before or have taken a handful of lessons in the past and want a fun introduction to the world of surfing, our beginner lesson is the experience for you!

For advanced surfers:
If you've already gained some experience and may even be an everyday surfer who wants to improve certain aspects of your surfing, increase your wave count, or learn to read the ocean more efficiently, our advanced lessons will take you to the next level!

For those of you who don't need lessons, we offer guided sessions to a variety of world-class waves in Guanacaste, such as Witches Rock, Ollies Point, Marbella and many more. The goal of our guided sessions is to give our clients access to the best waves in the area depending on the day, whether we take a 3 hour trip south or a 2 hour boat ride north, the possibilities are endless. Prices vary depending on the client's preferences and the surf spot chosen. A private photographer can be arranged for a small additional fee to capture the best surf session of your trip. Check with us below for specific details.

The private coaching package consists of focused one-on-one surf training in a variety of conditions, focusing on the client's goals and expectations. It includes video review/analysis, additional land/body mechanics training recommendations, and equipment/wave physics breakdown. If you are a competitive surfer or just an individual looking to drastically improve your surfing and technique, a one to two week private coaching program with us will get you the results you are looking for.
